Salvation Army is a faith based organization which started in London, England in 1865.

Currently there are 1.8 million members in 134 countries, and last year they helped 27 million people via their various programs.

In 1891 the first kettles were put out to feed 1,000 needy people in San Francisco. The pots were put on the docks in Oakland with a note to keep the pot boiling.

In Arvada, Lakewood, Littleton and part of Denver there are 50 kettles out this year with about 10-12 kettles out every day.
