B.I.O.N.I.C

“Believe it or not I care”

After four suicides at a local high school in 2004-05, the B.I.O.N.I.C. Team was started to empower young people to reach out to students going through similar tough times to let them know they are “seen,” “valued,” and “cared for” in hopes of preventing them from spiraling down into more serious issues including suicide.

HOW?

Through simple outreaches we reach out to our peers through – New Student Breakfasts for peers who are new, get well packets for students who are sick, care packages for those who lose loved ones, outreaches to those who are bullied, and posters of support for schools that experience tragedy. We also reach out to the elderly and veterans.

WHY?

We are impacting individuals, schools, and communities by changing the atmosphere in schools to a more caring climate where peers are looking out for each other. Click in this box to hear why over 950 schools (elementary through college) worldwide have inquired about starting a B.I.O.N.I.C. Team, plus even businesses and places of worship.

OUR MISSION
B.I.O.N.I.C. (Believe It Or Not I Care) creates more caring schools, organizations, and communities that support, encourage, and connect those facing challenging times.

OUR GOALS

  • To make new students feel welcome
  • To reach out to hospitalized students
  • To reach out to students with extended illnesses/health conditions
  • To reach out to students and their families, and staff that experience the death of  a loved one
  • To reach out to other schools that experience tragedies
  • To empower bystanders to prevent bullying

In order to accomplish these goals, the B.I.O.N.I.C. Team consists of six smaller teams – each with the purpose of reaching the above goals. New Student Team, Extended Illness Team, Hospitalization Team, Loss Team, Bully Prevention team, and the School Tragedy Team. (Go to the “Program” page to see the details of each team.) Each team has student leaders to organize the outreaches.
